A Writer’s Mind

A writer’s mind is complicated
Always full of ideas to write
Even when I want to sleep
My mind keeps racing on

Thoughts flooding over me
As once more I am forced
To pick up paper and pen

Too many times the words won’t come
The ideas never cease

The pages are filled quickly
With whimsical unicorns and dragons
There are tributes to soldiers and friends

Then there are the times
When the pen is still and the pages are quiet
For during these times the ideas are gone

The words don’t rhyme
The story won’t flow
These are the times that I wish
The force I once felt drive me
Would come over me once more.
