A free verse poem about daybreak
I gaze out my window with awe
watching morning break into view.
Peeking out
over the tree line orange and gold hues of dazzling sun.
I feel as if an artist came,
and painted the sky, just for me.

Smells of coffee
waft through the house,
morning stirrings are beginning,
the world wakes up to start anew.
Grass sparkles
with diamonds of dew - soon to dissipate in the sun.

Chirping of birds
becomes louder, they’re busy eating breakfast too.
Squirrels hurry here and there,
looking for treasures they hid yesterday.
Timid rabbits
nibble the grass, noses twitching. ears listening.

Soon sun bursts out
in brilliant light warming the earth in its blanket,
bringing sunshine back for the day,
giving life to plants and flowers.
The world is complete, once again.
