Nightmare Alley To break her heart, Slice out her ears Shred her hopes, Having slashed apart her dreams, You left her alone on the cold desolate ground Alone in Nightmare Alley Where all that glitters is not gold And caveats of things undead Whisper through the sweeping sorrows That linger in the frozen night For there upon the tattered ground She curled in a ball Cocooned within a shell, unhallowed Waiting for the worst Waiting for the best Waiting for him Waiting for anything Waiting Just Waiting Eventually time dwindles All oxygen evaporates But she is still left waiting In a still wake of gnawing pain Dragged away with the leaves Into new dangers, she plunges Where he no longer can protect her Where she unendingly lets herself hurt Where her every raging breath Reverberates into all that feels And monsters in the pulsing shadows Rip away her protective walls That allowed her mind A shield from the cannibalistic being Consuming the fiery soul within her But, all the while She thought it was You Whom pulled her from the sepulchrally black, mysterious past You who carried her away Who was a beacon of pure beauty and light Shining through the grieving oppression Concurring the blue devils When really You endlessly dragged and weighed her down Rendering her insane You who buried her You who killed me And ate the remains You were Jack and I was Sally Our love was lost in Nightmare Alley hate unraveled by an upturned leaf Moon Fall, Dark Sky As tears fell from my eyes When never under the Midnight Sky Would you dare say or vitriolically think, "I love You" |
