Since you are here, let's talk! |
Thank you for stopping by and browsing! If you have not already noticed, most of my writing centers around novels. I do have one short story, though, which is my first, so be gentle. Many folks are uncomfortable reviewing book chapters because they are not sure what to comment about. I decided to provide some questions below for you to consider, if you decide to grace me with a review. Fear not, I write short chapters. ~~~~~~~~~~ GENERAL QUESTIONS AND GUIDELINES TO CONSIDER Does the opening paragraph have a hook? What grabs your attention in the first few paragraphs? Do you feel sympathetic toward the main character/protagonist? Do you care about the character? What elements do you see in the character? Exampes: engaging, proactive, being attacked/bullied, being kind, having a friend, not being rude, being a good friend, etc How do you feel about the plot? It there an engaging conflict? Is the pace good? Too fast, dragging, or just right? What do you think about the language and voice? Am I showing and not just telling? Does the story come to life? How well does the dialogue work? Is it realistic, entertaining, intriguing? How does it contribute to the pace and language? Can you imagine the place in the story? Does the setting description engage all the senses? Can you sense a theme? How did my chapter make you feel? Do you have any suggestions? ~~~~~~~~~~ Here are some chapters that could use another set of eyes if you're game.
