The Faithful and the Given

A philosophy for folks
Of a scorned and dreadful state:
Set personal afflictions aside
And conform to a higher calling,
For the sake of a group dynamic. 

Expressing grief and displeasure
About apparent dislikes
Can lead to heartache,
As people's stubbornness
Advances their tree-lined goals. 

But as the futility and need
Become clearer,
The central dynamic
May seem more convenient -
And their demands
May appear more worth obeying.

In many cases,
Persistence is never rewarded.
Just simply remind oneself
Of the guiding principle
In these matters -
Those seeking the truth
Often believe in its brevity.
