Our final stand against the alien Grays.

At Miller’s Cave we made our final stand
because of space aliens not so grand.
Changes were coming...so threatened the Grays;
dire their threatening the end of days!
Emergency the state all o’er the Earth,
from Albany to Omaha to Perth.
Ghastly the tactics of alien war;
hardbitten we, though, to give them what for!
In among stalactites, still with our wits;
jaded by battle--cities blown to bits.
Keen our resolve though hunkered down we were;
laser beams and explosions did occur,
making night no longer placid and serene;
near entranceway, charred black where once was green.
Owned by these gray aliens from afar,
(perhaps Rigel, perhaps some other star.)
Quivering we, an agitated lot;
ravaged by what these space invaders brought.
Suddenly, last summer…I reminisced;
there in that cave I was totally pissed.
Utter destroyers had come to our world;
vain they, as relentless siege had unfurled.
Would that I could have walked a railroad track;
X-rays and gamma rays from said attack.
Yesterday sprints in the blink of an eye;
Zero tomorrow, for it was goodbye.
