A Rondeau poem
She came to me as if windblown,
In wisps of moonlight faintly shown,
While I perceived the sprites of white,
As zombies dancing in the night,
She pranced out of a shadowy zone.

"A mutt!" I uttered with a groan,
Her mixed genetic breed unknown,
Underfed, abnormally slight,
She came to me.

She begged in an emphatic tone,
So I became her chaperone.
Twenty years now, my dear delight
Fell comatose and died tonight,
And in my mournful dreams alone,
She came to me.

Rondeau: Fifteen lines, eight to ten syllables each. The refrain (R) is the first few words of the first stanza. The rhyme scheme follows: aabba aabR aabbaR.
