A little girl in the midst of her parents' toxic relationship.
Innocent is she, with little blonde braids and cheeks of rosy red.
Her eyes filled with tears, all alone in her room, as she sits upon her bed.
Her little brown eyes see many big things.
The yelling, the fighting, her parents throwing their rings.
She wants them to stop, they are scaring her so.
She begs "Daddy, please!" He tells her to go.
So, alone in her room, she sits and she waits.
She hears cursing and screaming and the shatter of plates.
With a loud slam of the door, silence has come.
She hears Momma crying and to her she runs.
Her mother yells, " Back, go back to your room!".
And so back she goes, alone in her doom.
She looks out her window for a God who's not there.
But she's heard that He is and she's heard that He cares.
She asks to be taken, taken away.
From all of the misery, all of the fray.
She waits for an answer, but it doesn't come.
She's stuck in this life with nowhere to run.
