God has left his handprint on our world
Through every season we see grandeur
Displayed for us in glorious colours
Delicate blossoms of pink, lush Greens,
Vibrant reds and golds, followed by sleepy brown.
Each year the world circles through the seasons
Putting on a show of colour to enrich our lives
But each year one season sleeps
It takes the colours and packs them away
Hides them so that we appreciate all they bring.
This season is dark and cold
Its colours are pale and dull
They are washed out from overuse, Tired....
They slink off and bury themselves under the ground
Or they travel high into the surrounding peaks.
We look up into those grand peaks and wait
Wait for the coming of a new season
but as we wait and long for the warmth that comes
We, too, rest and take stock of our lives
This season is the arrow that directs us to hibernate.
