A Christian's Prayer

A CHRISTIAN’S PRAYER

Create a clean heart in me, oh Lord, and renew a right spirit within me.
Hide your word in my heart that I may not sin against You. Keep me
Oh Lord, in the midst of your promises and cast me not away from your
Presence for it is life unto me. Help me not to be hypocritical, oh Lord.
Shine your light on me and search the depths of my soul to reveal those
Hidden things that I fail to acknowledge and refuse to see, expunge them
Thoroughly so that I may not be so quick as to point out the speck in
The eyes of others when in truth I have a plank in my own. I ask You
Oh Lord, to remove the glass hedge that I have so blatantly taken upon
Myself to use as a shield and put away my stones, for I do not wish
To throw them anymore. Keep my lips from afflicting pain and my
Tongue from gossiping and slanderous remarks. Let my mouth be free
From speaking vain and useless words against my brethren. Teach me
To be tenderhearted, forgiving and kind towards others. Let me not
Retain bitterness, unforgiveness, envy, jealousy, hatred or strife in my
Heart. Teach me to be a builder of your kingdom and not a demolisher.
For You have called us to love and exhort one another. Make me to be
A blessing, oh Lord, and not a curse. Help me to not look nonchalantly
Away from the works of the flesh and of evil but rather reprove them.
Teach me not to think more highly of myself than I ought to but to glory
In You and give You thanks in all things. For I am nothing without You.
Teach me, dear Lord, to be a person of integrity, to walk upright before You.
For I as a Christian, sometimes lack understanding of the true meaning
Of the word…..CHRIST-TIAN.
