A twisted little about faith, and searching for the answers to the questions few dare ask. |
-Divinity Squared- by Keaton Foster ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In my face At my back To both sides Above my head Below these feet Divinity squared All that is known All that is seen Questionable Questions I’ll ask Often do I seem As if I’m well aware But be assured Well aware Is what I’m not Continually For the answers Will I plead People closest to me Are often forced to flee Most of them call me mad A pathological man In an insane land With a gun to his head And a knife to his throat All the while standing Upon the highest ledge Justifiable Are such assertions Often do I go Where they won’t dare Asking what most won’t Fighting every good fight While taking Quite a few casualties The battle Is sometimes over But the war rages On and on Nothing is free Most of all What it is that I seek Divinity squared Faith itself Does not keep me here But the idea of faith Has left me planted Like a tree Deep in the ground Like a weed Shallow In the mind Between I divide my time In my face At my back To both sides Above my head Below these feet A prison of salvation Unbuilt Unkempt I could leave I should flee But I won’t I have to know Just as I have to ask For a man like me There can be nothing else Divinity squared I will write each line I will consecrate myself To every impossible lie I will tell of what I know And of what I have seen Those who listen Those who understand Will in time Offer me a release But I know that I can’t leave No more than I can escape Here I will always remain A dubious prisoner of both The heart and mind… Divinity Squared Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2015. |
