Who knew the newsroom could create a mystery all its own?
Tammy sat unmoving, staring at the small window that had opened in the upper right corner of her computer monitor. It had taken her a moment to recognize the small image, but now that she had, it was a little disturbing. She looked across the room, towards the back of the PC monitor on the next desk, trying to get some sense of what her co-worker was seeing. She didn't see any difference in her activity, so had to assume the window wasn't open there.

Over the top of that monitor, she looked at the TV screen on the wall, seeing the same continuous feed of news channels that was always there, rolling along to provide the trained eye with whatever changes were affecting the general goings-on of civilization minute by minute. Nothing there indicated there was any notice anywhere else on earth but right here on her screen. She shifted a little to the right and the window flickered, the image changing ever so slightly as if it took notice of her motion.

The hair on the back of her neck was slowly rising, making her feel more uncomfortable than she had in years. The last thing she wanted was for people to notice her today, trying to beat her deadline. Deciding she didn't like this, she reached slowly for her keyboard and pressed ctrl+alt+delete to banish the little window. The screen went blank, but only for a moment. The reboot message came up as usual, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

She dropped her head onto her hands, looking down at the keyboard and feeling a little sheepish for her reaction to the little window. She looked up at the monitor, and the image in the little window now filled the entire screen...and that huge eye was now staring straight at her. EVERYONE noticed, now that she was screaming....
