A double acrostic on the danger of hatred.

Sins soar, and overhead the sins amass;
hatred the wings allowing flights as such.
Armed with enmity in Heaven’s sea,
those short on reason bide their judgment seat.
Tongues spew--those evil racist comments cut;
endless the homophobic diatribe.
Remaining smug, they hold their Bibles near,
endearing to a lame self-righteous bane.
Did Jesus not endow sight to the blind?

God help the arrogant with broken wing;
least are the ones who hear to no avail.
Armies of angels promulgate the plea;
sometimes in deafness, ignorance is bliss.
Spite pains the loving heart, which leads to loss.

Double Acrostic of, “Shattered Glass.”

_________________

Notes:

Despite the title, “Jagged Glass,” I did a double Acrostic
of “Shattered Glass” for obvious reasons: there are not
too many words that end with the letter J.  Also, using
“Shattered,” makes the poem longer.

The title is still apropos however, because having to deal
with someone who espouses hatred unrelentingly and without
remorse is cutting indeed--it cuts like jagged glass.

There’s only one solution when exposed to a hatemonger:
STAY AWAY.  In my own family this was the case, as I have a
cousin who simply will not let go of hate.  No amount of reason,
tolerance, or boundary setting worked--the heart is too black.
I, for one, am not willing to be wounded further by such hate.

___________

In the double acrostic, both the first letter and the last letter
of the line spell out, as you read down, the phrase in question.
In this case, it is, “Shattered Glass.”
