514 words How Books etc. influenced my life By Lisa Noe ![]() When I was a child I loved books, mainly picture books. My favorite book was “Briar Rabbit and the tar baby,” it has been so many years since I have even seen that book, I would love to have a copy of that book, just for old time sakes. I would read it over and over again, even though I had many books, that is the one I wanted to read and see time and again. I also loved to watch the Mickey Mouse Club, which came on everyday after school. My favorite was the Donald Duck cartoons, I thought he was the funniest character of all of them. I loved the way he talked I think I liked him so much because he reminded me of myself. You see I had a lisp and talked with a whole lot of S’s, my sister and her friends use to make fun of my speech. It would hurt my feelings but I never let them know it. As I grew up of course my speech improved greatly, and they could no longer call me Donald Duck but he was still my go to guy because I could relate to him. Things didn’t always go his way, just as they didn’t for me. So needless to say I loved him. As I got older Winnie the Pooh was my favorite, I thought he was so sweet and cuddly, he was also like me as we both have trouble thinking, we have to “Think, Think, Think…” as he says. I liked reading but I had trouble to comprehend what I had read so usually I would read something and then find the movie to correspond to it. Like with Romeo and Juliet or Hamlet, boy Mel Gibson did a fine!!! job lol . but I digress I really liked the book the stand because it was good verses evil and I love things that are that way, I always choose good of course. You might ask how did all of these things influence my life? Well they were simple things and they were good things, things that shaped me in to being a simple yet descent and compassionate person. I have a deep love of my family which I believe came from the lessons I learned from these characters that I loved. I do what is right in life and I also believe they influenced me by the lessons they taught me as a child. There was also the music, Yes Music! I love music and I am influenced by the personalities of the song writers by the words of their songs. Whether the be dance numbers or ballads I listen closely to the words. I was a strong Beatles fan and was certainly influenced by their songs Like Tomorrow, and John Lennon’s Imagine and Help! These songs or the words that came from these songs had a huge impact on my life. I worked at a radio station that was dominated with their music what more influence can you have than that, they influenced my job. |
