Brief Description
quarters for fare for the buses
quarters run machines in the laundromats
quarters to park the car in the cities
quarters feed hungry slot machines
quarters to have a turn in the arcades
quarters buy you ice cream from the ding ding man
flip a quarter in the fountain for a tide of good will
not bothering to pick up a fallen quarter i dropped
crawling under a table to take a forsaken quarter
collecting my quarters to buy expired bread and cigarettes down at the hobo store
a quarter tank of gas to get through the week
a quarter bag of weed to last a week
a quarter bottle of vodka has no effect
a quarter of a decade to break stubborn silence from my parents
a quarter of a year to make a gift for a friend that was
i have been all of these people
i see how the system and life slowly withers us down
quarter by quarter
like the outsider to be quartered by horses for living differently
the business suit who sells its soul for a quarter billion in profit
a quarter million slaves who died for the rich
the innocent prisoner who has only served a quarter of his sentence
a runner who can't finish the last quarter mile
a worker laid off after spending a quarter of their life at a company to be replaced by cheaper labor
a soldier who dies a quarter way through the battle
a quarter of orphans who were never chosen
the baby who only lived a quarter hour after birth
the mother who died a quarter hour after giving birth
quarters we gain quarters we lose, a constant give and take
but surely life erodes us quarter by quarter
and i'll try to be able to spare you a quarter if you want one
but i can't promise i'll always have one to give
sometimes I might need a quarter from you
