We fight to survive, we kill the enemy of our kind, but in the end did we do right? |
-Wars That Can’t Be Won- by Keaton Foster Battles Troubles Wars That can’t Be won Give it all In return Get nothing Judgement lent Is judgement meant Upon your cross You’ll hang Until death Is certainly done You won’t Cannot Be forgiven What you’ve done Why you did it Matters least God is cruel Not kind His hand Righteously heavy Thus within Lives the duality Fight or die Kill or be killed What purpose is right What God is blind Could it be none Wars That can’t Be won The fight May be over The gun Not be undone The bodies Are piled high Upon the dead You now stand Victorious The man You’ll live At least for a time But out there One day soon A bullet Will have Your name Upon it Fired By the enemy Of your kind And the brother Of all those You’ve killed In the end We all see The same blue sky We all wonder To the same why Our answers Will indeed come We will be hung Upon our cross Until all sin is done Until our souls Are expunged Of all that we did In order to live Over those Who wanted Without question To kill us Wars That can’t Be won Are battles That we as beings Should not be fighting But time and again We pick up Our weapons In the name Of self-preservation Forgetting for a second As we alone Are pulling the trigger That for all that we do And for all that we have done None of it is without Consequence… Wars That Can’t Be Won Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2015. |
