Sadness

No hand to hold
No heart to hug
No guiding soul to follow
No wise spirit to listen to
No body to grasp onto
No laughter to join

Beauty is Only Nature Deep

Author's Note:
I wrote this on my deck that overlooks a pond. I sat on my mom's red fold up chair, the book Paper Towns by John Green beside me. This is to help you understand the man-made surroundings.
Here is the deck/pond:

A wave of glitter glides over the pond, a product of the wind. It looks rough, like fur going in the opposite direction. Birds dance in the sky, fluttering their wings. Their flutter, stop, drop routine makes it seem like they're bouncing, makes it seem effortless. A ruby red lady bug zips it's way across my field of view, while a bullfrog erupts into song. The crisp noon air whips around me whenever the wind gets an opportunity to blow. A turtle claims a rock as his throne. I don't understand why you want a rock as a throne. Or as a matter of fact, why would you would want to sun bathe on it even though you have a shell and wrinkly leather skin?

Here Comes the Sun
*Star* *Star* *Star* *Star*
Raindrops of sun drizzled through the window.
It was just a shower of light, but I knew there would be a downpour sooner or later.
----------------------------------------------------
Stakes of sunlight jabbed into the earth,
forcing all the things that thrived on it, up.

Dear Mother,
Today I found a baby.
He radiated hope and wisdom, but he was just an infant.
Every hour I watched him grow, every hour I watched him climb.
Though just a toddler, he conquered a mountain as a man.
And soon, he turned frail and old, dying in the trees' hands.
The pink and red that surrounded him, that was his blood dissipating.
His soul climb shortly after and the angels winked when greeting him.
When he climbed down again, The reincarnation took place.
Today I saw the sun.

My Entry: Maggie

This won Honorable Mention and the Animal Merit Badge in the Pets News Contest.
I have brindle fur,
and if you're having a bad day, I'm the cure.

I never let anyone down,
and I'll always turn around your frown.

I'm a mix,
but I still give out lots of licks!

When I was very little, I would chase the vacuum!
And luckily, my breath is better than a skunk's perfume.

I bark at cars when they go vroom,
plus, I'm easy to groom.

I sit very regal,
maybe I'm Beagle?

I radiate (so I'm told) goodwill,
even though I chew everything with frill.

My best friend is Jack,
who's always got my back.

Some say I'm naught but a dog,
even my mum compares me with a hog.

I despise cats;
and as a matter of fact, brats.

My nickname is Mags (sometimes Maggie May),
and I'm here to stay.

And sometimes I have those days,
the ones where you wouldn't dream of taking me to the bays.

I am the love of my owner's life,
if she could, she would take me as her wife.

With a heart of gold,
I'm told my smile never gets old.
