Upon stones
Upon road
In the dirt
In the dust
Through cities
Across endless forest
Down desolate paths
Places and directions
Where few dare go
Into the blackness
Into an expansiveness
A voyage such as this
To all else seems mad
My feet are bleeding
This heart is screaming
These lungs heave
I’m so damn tired
Most darker days
I’m not sure
That I’ll make it
My faith is weak
My fate is weaker
I’ve done
So many bad things
I just want this
To be my one
Good thing
A thousand miles
For you
Day
Night
Twilight
I continue to walk
Moving on
As pieces of me
Remain behind
I cannot change
I can only ever hope
To at least try
When I get to you
When I hold you close
Never again
Will I dare let go
I’ll love you
Just as I always have
I just hope

And that my journey
This pilgrimage home
Is enough

The distance is short
