A twisted little poem about the world today and how faith, and fate, is being challenged.

Grand was the façade
A windswept landscape
Of beautiful things
Now it’s all unkempt
Everything is wasted
Unhinged are the ideas
Disheveled are our values
We are lost in the wilderness
Of our shared existence
Destruction has become
A deity unto itself
Devine is its right
To destroy what belongs
Laying waste to truth
Dismantling every lie
Tearing things far and wide
Leaving beings fighting life
Questioning faith
As if it’s a lie cleverly told
Wondering why
Towards an empty sky
It was not always like this
Nope
Once we were all free
Once many of us were saved
Redeemed creatures burdened
All of us had glorious dreams
Living out our lives indeed
But then something changed
Something was replaced
Leaving us in a spiral
Down we went in denial
As the world around us
Fell further into disrepair
And now
There is no saving
The fate of such beings
We are doomed
By our chosen ways
What we now see
Is abundantly real
Grand was the façade
Idle stands a man
He has no hands
He shakes like a leaf
Afraid of what is coming
Close by there’s a road
Forever onward does it go
Never will he know
What is down there
Beyond darkness and fear
Out beyond that horizon
Out beyond a greater distance
Past the choices of himself
And every other in doubt
He, that man
Is a symbol
A tragic figure
Living within the perilous light
What was once fake
What once allowed
Peace, hope, and faith
Has been misplaced
Torn and laid
At the altar of our mistakes
Grand was the façade
Now reality has come to bear
Down upon those
So many broken
Many more forsaken
Faith is not as it was
Hope is not as it should be
In between all of us seem
Not sure where to go
Not sure if it’s ok to move
We are afraid of the choices
And the ramifications
Of those unmade choices
Grand was the façade
No longer…
