Mindfire

We drift upon
a rhythm
so removed
from current time.
Along the folds and creases
pulse sketched
and halting lines
of dream-soaked words
and unsung verse
issuing
unbeckoned
familiar but unrehearsed
actuality
that turns
a sparkling day
onto its
twinkling end
and ignites
a crackling dawn
from the tinder
of slumbering friends.
