A twisted little poem about humans being able to fly, at least for a time. |
-Flight- by Keaton Foster Flight I must know Soaring I wanna go Upward bound Avoiding The hardened ground Climbing to heaven Ascension Of gravities forgetfulness I’ll request At least That’s my intention Flight Upon this ledge Proudly I stand The science Foolproof I know What I’m saying And have An ability to understand Be assured Both are not the same This suit of feathers Plucked from pigeons Naked birds How absurd Flight At this point I feels it’s a right I’ve put in the work The science is solid Quite foolproof Well almost I’ve lost much weight Frail and sick Concerned are some They keep asking What have you done When they should be asking What are you about to do Flight I have strong faith I’m ready to soar Beyond the clouds I won’t be kept down All that is left All that remains Is a leap of faith Off the highest of place A place few dare go A height deemed insane A towering location Of absolute desolation This will be pass or fail This will be live or die And I’m ready to go I’m willing to know Flight Can a being born a man Become a bird of fancy Upon the wind, dancing Soaring beyond this skin Arms outstretched Faith worn on my chest Closest to my heart Fate to be dealt Or smashed I won’t know Until I take a step So here it is The moment of go Down from three I leap At first I soar At first I fly Like every other bird In God’s blue sky But at first Does no last very long Gravity won’t be denied And I begin to regret What feelings I have left As I fall like a stone Towards the end Of my experiment And with such an end Comes a greater nothing Beyond the blue Out there within the truth That human beings Are not meant to fly… Flight Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2015. |
