Romance Poem- 28 lines |
Gatsby Romance Romance proved to be just another word, Tragedy of lies, theater absurd Youth lingered, heart determined to survive Relinquished dreams of love once kept alive Glanced a young man's way one November day, Never an eye for blonds, no how, no way! Fitzgerald hero in a three-piece suit, Eyes of blue penetrate, Gatsby pursuit! Head said, "Go! Run away! Run far! Run fast!" Heart said, "This could be your true love at last!" Shivering, trembling with fevered desire, Poetic coupling, passion's burning fire! Danced a wedding dance one bright Friday noon, Champagne kisses under a timeless moon! Delicious rapture promised to be ours, Forever together, written in stars! Dreams traveling to the Emerald Isle, Almost seven years later, full of smiles Airplane landed in Dublin, hearts so light, To music and laughter every night! Journeyed together weathering life's days, Learning to forgive each others weird ways Tending to garden, roses all in bloom, Pulling out weeds to give some flowers room There once was a girl in love with a lad, Nobody here perfect, both can be bad! Thirty-one years married, down winding road, Carrying life partner's heaviest loads! Total lines = 28 lines This poem is an entry in "Journey Through Genres: Official Contest" |
