The 13th Jester Poem - Esther sees a miracle taking place involving Joshua and Cameron
Esther And The Angel

Esther was shocked when she observed the spark,
It had been so long, everyone was dark.
She knew not many could see that occur,
Others could see it, it wasn’t just her.

She was a nurse at the Children’s Hospital,
Worked on the floor for the terminally ill.
She’d seen two boys who were best friends,
Building something with odds and ends.

Joshua touched Cameron like a friend would,
She could see the spark from where she stood.
She’d seen it before, but it had been a while,
Knew that made Joshua a special child.

Josh saw her looking and smiled a big smile,
Walked to her, said “I’m just here for a while.”
Now Esther was puzzled, for what did he mean?
He was a child after all, not yet a teen.

Josh saw her expression and smiled anew.
“You’ve seen others do this, haven’t you?
The spark you saw is not magic nor skill,
It’s something we do to heal the ill.”

Esther shook, not with fright but in awe,
Her heart pounded, a deep breath she did draw.
“What do you mean we?  There’s just you two there.”
Josh looked at her and said, “We’re everywhere.”

“I don’t understand.” Said Esther once more.
“I saw you and Cam over there on the floor.
There was no one else, so why say ‘We’?
What am I missing, please tell me.”

Josh whispered to her, “Please don’t make a fuss
In your heart, you know all about us.
You have the gift the father speaks of,
You are a special one, you live with love.”

That was the day Esther changed her life,
The day she stopped worrying, lived without strife.
For she had met an angel, found they are real,
She had seen one working, knew they could heal.

She no longer worried about Cameron,
On that ward, he was her favorite one.
She had read to him whenever she could,
About a court jester, knew he understood.

When Josh arrived, he seemed to fit right in,
He and Cameron became best friends.
He too loved the Jester, knew some of the tricks,
Showed them to Cam, who did them so slick.

Esther has been jealous, but knew it was best,
Having Josh there made everyone feel blessed.
Now she understood why he confessed to her,
Knew he would teach Cam, to become The Jester.
