Jack tries to bring law and order to town. |
The new Marshall strapped on his pistol, the very one he'd asked for, pinned the badge he'd received to his shirt pocket, and headed out the back door. It was time to bring law and order to town. He didn't have to go far. A trouble maker was sitting on the stairs, drinking if you can believe it. Even though it was only Ritchie, it couldn't be allowed. "That is against the law," the Marshal said, as his hand rested on the grip of his trusty pistol. "What are you talking about Jack?", was the quick response. As he jumped up to face the Marshall, his bottle flew into the dirt as his feet. "Now look what you made me do! My favorite cola." "Serves you right for breaking the law," the Marshall stated. "Now move out or I'll slap leather." "Sure, big shot with the new gun, and the tin badge," said Ritchie. Adding "I'll be back," as he slunk away into the yard. A good start, Jack thought. He headed out on patrol to look for more bad guys. "That was brave of you Jack," came from behind him. "Oh no," said Jack, turning around. Not a bad guy, worse, it was Barbara. "Can't you see I'm on patrol?" "Well, I'll just wait here until you finish," Barbara replied. "He's finished now," came from behind the Maple tree. Ritchie stepped out, and showed his machine gun to the Marshall. "Let's see how your six shooter does against this." "Six shooter?" said Jack. "You don't know what you're up against Black Bart." "Black Bart," laughed Barbara. "That's Ritchie, and look out for his machine gun." "He should look out for my high powered water pistol," laughed the Marshall, as he blasted away. |
