A special poem about our wishes soaring far beyond our at times troubled lives. |
- If Wishes Were Airplanes- by Keaton Foster From this heart From this mind Up there Beyond those clouds Down here In the space between High above sight An unobtainable distance Where I presently cannot go But where Most of who I am resides If wishes were airplanes Soaring off into the blue Seeking some truth Maybe finding us again In time Becoming part of our skin An increment of our At times infernal existence Making things better If even only for a moment I’d be willing to embrace that Such wishes Time honored things Call them prayers Sacred requests Between God and I From these lips To his ears Seeking forgiveness With regards to both sides I have long suffered But recently I have also Begun to encompass The idea that to be saved One must first be lost To be immortal we must First come to know What it means to be Helpless and frail Weakened by our lives Taken to the edge And made to see What lives down there In the swirling nothingness Of a life lived in regret If wishes were airplanes I know That they’d soar Beyond all reason And beyond All that makes us human To a place where and when They could never be touched Harmed Dismantled in any way Left as pure as when They were conveyed As innocent as they seem From this heart From this mind Up there Beyond those clouds Down here In the space between High above sight An unobtainable distance Where I presently cannot go But where Most of who I am resides If Wishes Were Airplanes They’d soar Further than forever more High above all of our pain And at times Our troublesome ways To a place not touched Unmolested by interaction Upward to a sacred place Within a universal space Of shared inhabitance Where as one we can be Closer to God One and another And ourselves… If Wishes Were Airplanes Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2014. {/center |
