A father teaches his son.
I realize not every man teaches his son that killing's okay, but in today's society a frightening number do.

Saga of a Boy and His Toy
A tale of the civilized way to live.

Every day somewhere in the world
A little boy is taught to play.
The day he’s born his father is proud.☺
Gives him quality time
A little every day.

Boy/Toddler

Still a little guy
But old enough,
To learn about
A different kind of toy.

Father begins to indoctrinate
His son
Shapes his fingers
Like a gun,
Teaches him
How the trigger
To pull.

“Daddy’s little boy,
Just like daddy, see?
That’s my son!”
I’m so proud •••”☺

Young child

Dad buys son a plastic gun,
No, bigger•••
A sophisticated
Plastic shotgun.
Teaches him to shoot.

He grows angry with his friend,
Takes aim, shoots friend in the back,
As he walks away.
“Remember, Son, it’s just for fun.
“I’m so proud •••”☺

Youth

Dad buys son a B-B gun.
Teaches him to shoot birds and defenseless small animals.
Calls them intruders.

“Remember, son,
It’s an American’s right
To protect himself.
I’m so proud •••”☺

Teenager
(Birthday)

“Son, it’s time you learned to be a man.
Today, I’ll buy your first real gun and I’ll be teaching you how to hunt.”

Boy sees harmless stag,
Takes aim, shoots,
Animal falls.

“I did it, Dad, I’m a man!”

“Yes, I’m so proud of you, Son!  ☺
Remember this is just recreation •••”

Young Man

“Son, to be a soldier is to be a patriot and this is good.
When Congress declares war, killing’s okay.”

“But Dad, I’ll be killing a man.”

“If the President says it’s okay it’s legal to kill.
In war it’s kill or be killed.
I’m so proud of you •••”☺
