Kind of a satire on "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" but for teachers.
If you give a teacher a cookie,
She’ll want some coffee to go with it.
So she’ll go to the workroom and get coffee.
When she’s in the workroom, she’ll notice someone turned on the laminator.
Seeing the laminator on will remind her she has name tags to laminate.
She’ll set the coffee on the table and go get them.
On the way back to class, another teacher will stop to talk to her.
They will talk about AYP, NCLB, and IDEA.
When they are finished, she will have forgotten where she had been going.
She will head to the bathroom instead.
While she’s in there, she’ll notice that there are no paper towels,
So she will go to look for a janitor.
While she’s looking for the janitor, another teacher will stop to talk to her.
They’ll talk about Common Core and state testing.
Talking about state testing will remind her that she needs to sharpen pencils.
When she gets to her room, she’ll start getting out supplies for the afternoon lessons.
While she’s getting out supplies, the bell will ring marking the end of recess.
She’ll go get her students.
The students will start sustained silent reading.
The quiet will make her start yawning,
So she’ll select a student to be in charge and run to the workroom for a cup of coffee.
And chances are,
If she gets the cup of coffee,
She’ll want a cookie to go with it.
