"Inwardly Consumed"

[Romans 8:5] "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit."


Feelings of shock and disbelief sink in,

just can't shake off what was heard.

I replay those hangups again and again,

and forget what you say in your Word.

I strive to aim higher and higher,

always putting on a good face.

Thinking I need to perform well,

in order to earn your grace.

Situations that I often encounter,

tend to leave me blind sighted.

I try my best to make sense of it all,

but the load never gets lightened.

I make you into something you're not,

and get stuck in the "what if" state.

Never wanting to ever doubt,

this life in which you orchestrate.

But you remind me your mercy shown,

and the love you forever extend.

So help me to see the bigger picture,

and who you have always been.
