An observation on listening.
Listening is a dying Art, at least I think so. It seems no matter where I am, whether at work, talking with a family member or eavesdropping on a conversation, nobody actively listens. Although I have to admit I've been guilty of that myself. But I like to think I've matured or maybe I've out grown the love of my own voice.

What I do know is that most conversations consist of one person talking while the other person interrupts. So now the first person talking interrupts the second person, so that the second person comes back with a better story. To which the first person tops that story with an implausible version, till both parties are talking over each other and nobody is listening to a word each other is saying.

So I decided it was time to lead by example. Really listen, be engaged, give it my full attention. And this is what I found. Most people are boring, pointing this out doesn't endear them to you. Needy people are easy to spot cause every road leads back to them. Pointing this out drags the conversation out longer. And people will continue talking even when you're walking away.
