The dunes of the Cape, about which much has been written.
By an alcoholic redneck, among other musicians.
Yet how can I describe this place I call home,
that runs through my veins, and is deep in my bones.
The way that sky sparkles on a hot summer's eve,
surrounded by friend's and that cool ocean breeze.
They come here in droves from all over the nation,
blessed is the Cape I was perfectly placed in.
For it is here that I grew, and here that I fell.
Threw every coin I had down that old wishing well.
Deep beneath the sparkle and millionaire homes,
Lies a whole world that is fairly unknown.
If I could have sold my shoes they'd surely be gone,
traded in my soul for that old poppy's spawn.
With my family pleading to have their son back,
I wear my long sleeves just to cover my tracks.
Those dunes of Cape Cod, I still love you so.
Quit my old ways and started to grow.
For there's no other relief quite like the one found,
as heading over that old bridge cape bound.
