A twisted poem based off a dream that I often have about the choices that I've made. |
-The Midnight Sea- by Keaton Foster A boat Leaking Once silent Now speaking Thy end Will be soon Out here Nothing No one Can save you The dream Repeating This nightmare More reality Then impossibility I’m being Tossed about Upon The midnight sea The waves Easily they come Each bigger Than the last The sky is black The sea A deeper darkness The tips of each wave White Clear and pristine A message I’m sure One that I Don’t understand The sound All-encompassing Quite engrossing Everything out here In this wilderness Of absolute nothing Is frightening This boat Slowly leaking Quickly filling With my hands I still resist But before long Such resistance Will be pointless I alone Sailed from the shore I was aware Of nevermore I said goodbye As no one Waved from the shore Into the darkness I allowed myself to go There is no rope No mooring close Just a yearning To see land again A different place Than ever before But for now The midnight sea Is all that I see All that I know I have made my choice Willingly I have done All that I’ve done The dream Repeating This nightmare More reality Then impossibility I’m not sure If I’ll ever again Touch foot to ground I am not sure If I’ll ever see Another human being In this torrent of darkness I will indeed flounder Always fearing That someday soon My resistance With regard to sinking Will no longer be enough… The Midnight Sea Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2014. |
