A strange poem about me and my need to pretend as part of how I have survived.

Hammer in hand
With this gun
I’m the man
With any blade
I can create
And thus deal in fear
Those to be victims
Always attempt to flee
Oh how they scream
Continuously saying
Have some mercy
Quick to reply
They’ll be none
You deserve me
And I require you
Never is any act
A random event
Of unbridled madness
All that I do
All that I’ve ever done
Increasingly calculated
Few variables are manipulated
Upon the path
Always I am walking
Sometimes I stumble
But never have I tripped
Never have I fallen down
This is me pretending
What exactly
I will never really say
No single person
Not even the man that is me
Could have had every damn ounce
Of such madness happen to them
And not ended up this way
A survival mechanism
If there ever was one
Most of what you see
Fabricated upon the spine of truth
Deviated in the heart of sadness
This very mind unwound
Open and free
Cracked as the base and crown
Unbound by any rationale
Unhinged by every idea
Left in a state of descending fears
Once you survive so much
Then everything after that
Becomes quite easy
Almost to the point of mundane
What makes most run
Makes people like me
Stand very tall and quite still
This is me pretending
Of course there are pieces
Many of truth that I’m sending
But overall all that I am saying
Is one big well-orchestrated lie
A thoroughly imagined
And intricately crafted blurbed
You will have to come to decide
Read much of what I’ve penned
Before your make any judgment
Any educated decision about me
I’m a pacifist and pacifist like me
Can’t bring themselves to kill
However
I do indeed suffer
From a severe form of OCD
OCD to a level often unseen
Mix that with my need to be heard
And reverence for climactic words
Then I must admit
That the gloves are off
Everything becomes an option
There is nothing beyond reason
This is me pretending
Maybe someday in the future
Or in the immediate present
I’ll stop pretending
Maybe someday these words
Will no longer be enough
What will happen after that
Honestly I just can’t say…
