She traded her dreams for a life of comfort - but at what cost? (Form: Villanelle)
Bed of Roses

She moves with gentle feline grace.
She understands the choice she made.
A wistful smile plays on her face.

Sheโ€™s trapped within this choice, this place,
past times she could have left, not stayed.
She moves with gentle feline grace.

Decisions she, now, canโ€™t erase
in memory are often played.
A wistful smile plays on her face.

The dreams she once hoped to embrace
were lost from sight when her path strayed.
She moves with gentle feline grace.

She searches, yet there is no trace
of what she was. The price is paid.
A wistful smile plays on her face.

Forever steps she will retrace;
the memories will never fade.
She moves with gentle feline grace.
A wistful smile plays on her face.
