I'm firm in my idea/experiences that some of us are incapable of anything close to love.

Shush
Truth
Sleep
I’ll speak
Silence
Sets me loose
Sure
I could talk
When you’re awake
But
My words
Always faked
I pretend
Like I know
Like I understand
Love
But I don’t
Never have
Never will
A master
At faking
A pro at taking
With very little giving
Just how it is
We once stood
Both you and I
At the alter
In front of God
And a church
Full of unknowing fools
We pledged our love
A one sided commitment
If there ever was
Because
I am emotionless
I feel nothing at all
Not an ounce of love
Not a smidgen of pain
Nothing that falls between
All of my ability
To truly feel
Was raped away
Back in the day
Back in the darkness
Of what I
Am unable to relate
You have no idea
Such things ostracize
People like me
Those responsible
Are dead
Those who know
Are dead as well
Their secrets
I’ll never come to tell
I complicate you
I have taken you
A perfect specimen
Of human existence
And I have managed
To chisel away
At your solemn ways
Bit by bit
Chip by chip
I don’t want you like me
But rather
I want you in spite of me
It’s just what I do
You won’t be the first
Nor the last
It will take much time
Probably most of our lives
But I’m not going anywhere
And either are you
I complicate you
There my love is the truth
I’ll only confess it
As you sleep
As you dream
Maybe of a choice
That you once made
And what it now means
I don’t know
Nor do I care
Impossible
Is all fear
Incapable
I am most sincere
This is what I do
What I know
The way that I was shaped
The method of how I was made
Turned upon those
Who have found a way to love
A man that loves them back
Least of all…
