The magic of the old world’s close at hand. (Form: English Sonnet)
Celtic Memories

An Irish Fairy

The voice of Joyce floats gently in the hills;
it joins with Yeats and Swift and Wilde and Moore
until, at last, in morning mists it stills,
departing with the light like ghosts of yore.

A heritage that many claim with pride;
a mystic past that flows in every vein.
With words and thoughts no longer do they hide
their messages of joy and love and pain.

The poems and stories whispered in my ear
of fairies and the wee folk of the glen
live on in memory as though I hear
the tales as if they're told new once again.

The magic of the old world's close at hand;
it lives forever in an em'rald land.
