comparing the storm ,as in life
Rolling, dark, ominous clouds, surround me a distant rumble, makes me know its coming

a sprinkle hits my skin, and prepares me, for what will come

the gentle breeze, turns into a persistent wind as if to protect itself, the leaves on the trees turn over

no longer do I hear children's laughter as they play

A distant dog is howling, as if to exclaim his resistance, of the changes

a flash of light, as I wonder if I'll make it to a safe haven

a startling rumble, follows the lightning

my feet try to move more quickly, carrying me closer to my destination

then silence, no wind, no birds, absolute quiet, and calm

my heart beats quicker, as I feel the impending doom that is

The calm before the storm

I try to reassure myself, all will be well

but my heart wont accept this thought,it beats faster, and louder

filling my ears, with the deafening sound

The wind again, starts tossing objects around, a trail of sand swirling

the trees bow their heads, as if they were surrendering, to the higher power

a magnificent flash takes my breath away, a violent crash immediately follows

it sends a shiver up my back, large drops of rain, plop to earth, slowly warning

I glance upwards, and my eyes fill with terror, of the clouds of dark, and foreboding

my chances of getting, to my safe haven, are depleted

I search for a place to hide away, before its too late,

I spot a small alcove, barely big enough to shelter my soul. I duck in, as the rain begins to pound against me

the wind is driving the rain, like a fierce attacker, the lightning is hot pink, and strikes somewhere close by,

it shakes the ground beneath my feet ,for a moment I close my eyes,

thanking the powers that be, for the safety,

and praying that everyone else, is safe as well.

The wind is pushing me back, as far as I can be pushed into the walI, of this den

water is building around my feet, a puddle is growing quickly

Just when I feel like all is caving in around me, it Stops,

the sun now shines, as the steam from the pavement rises

I step out, and see the flooding all around. People again I hear, as they enjoy the beauty of the rainbow,

children again laugh, and yell, as they stomp, and play, among the puddles.

Joy fills the air,it is then I realize, I once again had survived the puddles of life, with all their fury.

I am again homeward bound, filled with the sense of pride, and thankfulness, that I weathered another storm,

and will soon be able to reap the happiness, awaiting me at home.
