I cast away the bindings that ensnare. Day 4 (Form: English Sonnet)
Unchained

** Image ID #1518466 Unavailable **

I cannot bear these chains of misery;
though wrapped in silk, they chafe upon my soul.
Where once I thought your love would set me free,
I'm burdened by the yoke of your control.

How can you say you love me with each breath
yet scorn me should I fail to play the part
that you expect. This isn't life, it's death;
a thousand cuts that slowly kill the heart.

No longer will I crawl; I stand my ground
and cast away the bindings that ensnare.
I see horizons, hidden from eyes bound;
they call to me in answer to my prayer.

No tears will fall; no longer will I bleed.
I'm curious where this new road will lead..
