A tricky poem about a man who finds nothing in the new day dawning.

-Dawning Light-

On this day
He rested
All of his time
Was wasted
Reflection
Introspection
Each phase of it
Became
None existent
He did nothing
As he refused
Every something
Such was his way
Wicked encased
Pain on display
He hated himself
And everyone else
His life, pointless
His soul, hopeless
His slanted mind
A betrayer of every idea
Born into creation
He has become
An unseasoned bureaucrat
Belonging to no system of rule
Belonging to no absolute truth
Or measures of lies
Some believed
Others found out
Those who know
Point right at him
Sir
How dare you
How could you
Judgment is ours
Down upon you
We cast doubt
What you’ve done
Our blind God sees
He knows all too well
What’s the point
There will be none
Condemnation lives
Within the hole
In the middle of his chest
Dawning light
Makes no difference
He won’t turn to God
He will refuse the Devil
Nothing is his true deity
Of both desire and choice
His God of circumstance
No one else’s but his
He struggles to connect
As he loosens his grip
Downward he falls
Backwards into oblivion
Will he ever hit bottom
Will he ever find ground
Dawning light
Nowhere in sight
On this day
He rested
All of his time
Was wasted
Reflection
Introspection
All of it
None existent
Nothing will change
Because nothing
Is all that somehow remains…
