The main goal of both powder and Teflon coating process is quite similar
The main goal of both powder and Teflon coating process is quite similar, but the processes we used to do those are a little bit different. Both processes want to create a new defined property to the specific item on which they are going to be coated. In powder coating it want to protect the item being damaged where as in Teflon coating it creates a non-sticky layer or surface on the item it is being coated.

Powder Coating Process:
In this process the thing which we are using for coating is simply a powder. It is generally sprayed on the surface of the item and then dried to form a coating. In this way we do powder coating. Here comes the question how the coating works:

First the powder is filled in the feeder unit for the spray gun. Compressed air inside the feeder diffuses the powder, so that it acquires a state of liquid even still technically it is a powder.

The gun sprays the powder by using high velocity air and propelling the powder from the feeder to the gun. Guns can spray up to 10 to 25 feet. When the powder comes out of the gun looks like a cloud moving toward the item to be sprayed or coated.

An electrode placed at the tip of the spray gun emits a charge that is passed on to the particles of powder when they passed through the tip. This charge makes the particles to start looking for something to latch on to and form a protective cover or coating over the surface of it.

In this way powder coating will be done, after it has been applied, it is baked on to the item. Powder coating looks similar to that of painting job, but with many benefits from that of ordinary painting. The powder which doesn't attached to the item can be recycled.

Teflon coating process:
Teflon coating applies so many other properties rather than of simple powder coating process. But some of the few properties may vary from powder coating like temperature related properties that are very important. There is couple of methods for Teflon coating:

The surface of the item on which Teflon coating is going to be done is sandblasted first so that it receives lot of tiny micro-abrasions. This makes the surface slightly rough; it makes non-stick Teflon easier to stick. However, this method has been shown to create a weak bond with the item coated onto. This is the reason some cookware is easily scratched than others.
Strong bond can be created by using a resin as a bonding agent to help the Teflon to stick on to the item.

Both of these methods given priority for the non-stick property of Teflon. But once the Teflon coating is applied, you have a smooth surface that resists water and can stand up to a wide variety of temperatures. It's perfect for numerous applications, both in the consumer and industrial sectors.
