A really twisted poem about life and doing what it takes to mean something more.

A horse with no name
What a dangerous game
Stampeding puppies
Killing those bastards
So that I can live
I don’t hate them
How could I ever
They are just puppies
Cute little creatures
Full of joy and love
Beaming with hope
Over what they could become
Innocence so defined
By my warped mind
I use to be like them
So long ago
And now
I am sure that I am
Unlike them most of all
I loathe myself
And what I’ll do
In the name of continuation
Simple are the facts
Impossible is the game
A horse with no name
In a field of so many
Easily I can identify
Standing out of the heard
Looking so damn absurd
No reins are required
No treats will be accepted
Nothing most of all
Does such an animal desire
In serious time
When all is aligned
I will be thrown from him
Crushed to death underfoot
Shattered of my broken life
Smashed to death
That final moment will hurt less
Than all that has since been
There will be no other master
No other rider
When I’m gone
The fences will fall
Then
Into a wilderness of freedom
My nameless friend will go
Upon a spicket I will rotate
Burning forever in the flames
Of so many choices easily made
A horse with no name
What a dangerous game
Stampeding puppies
Killing those bastards
So that I can live
Such proverbial madness
I’m sure
That few will digest
Metaphors are like hammers
Beating people senseless
Has become my speciality
I won’t stop until they understand
Each swing will be far more brutal
Than the last
A horse with no name
He is a wild beast
Never meant to be tamed
He is a creature of life and death
A beast of burden quite burdened
His back is nearly broke
His spine, crooked with doubt
The load that he must carry
Is just too damn much
In a field of so many
Easily to me he stands out
Increasingly I know him well
Almost better than myself
When the time is right
I know that he saved
He will become free
Far more than me…
