Reason's Read

Shock was seeing an article written by yours truly, no less;
a little known Italian magazine, Principalica Astonomica.
Not a household name, yet for me a current subscription.
Dark Matter and its Affects on Gravitational Bend,
which, by the way, I had written but decided to stow
in a specific computer file for future submission stimuli.
Considering this fact, how this article became public
had me grasping comet tails--was there some malicious reach
eager and able to worm in and access my hard drive?
Deep is the Internet--deep also, perhaps, is unauthorized read.

During a comprehensive viral scan I had
excessive thoughts of how this could possibly be.
Even thoughts beyond the rational came,
prodding me like so many cracks of whip,
insisting with the push of a tsunami.
Natural has not the flair for magic man,
tucked in with regulation and strict aspect,
hard-assed opposed to incantation, voodoo, bull moose breath,
even-keeled to explanations devoid of dogmatic dance.

Bear skins, stone knives, once the homo sapiens’ hub,
offers on altars no appeasement for imbroglio.
Wherein comes civilization, ability and heartfelt need to know,
easing of superstition no small measure.
Laptops and laser light and the banality of email--
speculation is fine but so is direct access.
Overseas came a response from offices along the Po,
forthright, assertive, polite, assuring and brief.

Yes, I had authorized release, according to my answered query.
Open was I that memory could wander to and fro,
(unctuous are the ones whose stand as perfect on ego’s plateau),
red my drawn face, yet I still maintained doubt like a locked door.
Chirping sparrows stopped me from becoming very manic;
outside, nature played as usual in longstanding audio.
Meandering in specious dream beats a damaged drum.
Perhaps I will never know and nightly scratch my scalp;
(understanding, though, is an admirable, worthwhile milieu).
The article was written to be read to be sure, and that basic point
enhances satisfaction, which, I daresay, will always help enable
reason to ascertain explanations, despite pseudo-explanatory disorder.
