A true poem about an amazing event in my early life that drives me to this day...cheers |
-In The Woods- by Keaton Foster In the woods There is a tree Standing free Upon its trunk There are a few words Carved many years ago Back when life Was a bounty of “what if?” Easily the blade was true Without question What needed to be carved Came to mind Forever each letter will remain Always what was expressed Will truthfully be meant In the woods There is a tree Knowing where it is Amongst the invading forest For me comes with eternal ease Certain things are unforgettable Certain experiences are permanent Such things are all defining That was all so long ago A hundred lifetimes it seems A million decisions made clean All of them based off one initial idea Carved in the trunk of that tree From time to time As required by occasional doubt Those important words are read What do they say How could I ever begin to convey These, the sum of all my works Will of course be just a start But in time I’m sure They’ll indeed be much more… In The Woods Written by Keaton Foster Copyright © 2014 Makes you really wanna know what I carved doesn’t it? It was 33 years back, every time I go to Maine I visit that tree. |
