A few of my sculpture creations
Bronze Sculpture

A bronze sculpture goes through a process of positive and negative steps: from positive (clay) to negative (mold) to positive (wax) to negative (ceramic shell) to positive (bronze).

The sculpture is first created by modeling (adding material to) and sculpting (cutting away material) using an oil-based clay. A mold is then made by coating the sculpture with a flexible rubber or silicon material which is then reinforced with a plaster jacket or outside layer. The mold is then used to cast a wax duplicate of the original. The waxes are repeatedly dipped into a ceramic material to create a shell. Then the shell is placed into a kiln where the wax is removed. Molten bronze is then poured into the shell and, after it cools, the shell is chipped away. A complex piece may use multiple molds and must be reassembled by welding the bronze castings together. Once the bronze is cleaned and polished, a patina is applied to enhance the color, and the finished piece is given a protective wax coating. Conception to completion may take place over a matter of months. The artist must work closely with the foundry to obtain the desired finished product.
Stop Clowning Around ~ 19 Inches high
When I was little and started to get out of line my father would give me his most serious look and say "stop clowning around." I wasn't a clown then; neither was my father, even though we both liked to do funny things. In a family of circus clowns, clowning is what Sr. and Jr. clown are all about. But, clown Jr. is getting out of hand and must be reined in by clown Sr. Such is life.

Off Road ~ 15 inches high
E. O. is an entertainer. On stage he rides, juggles, and on occasion pulls a rabbit out of his pocket while jumping his unicycle over a firewall at the end of a ramp. But off road? That's a trail of greater intensity.
