When Dragons Will Return A legend to this day persists that dragons will return. The words still echo through time's mists for those who can discern. A maiden, sent for sacrifice, lay claim upon the last swearing protection – for a price: her true love that had passed. "Surely your magic can impart," her plea mingled with tears touching the ancient dragon's heart, "the return of his years." The dragon knew that time was short; its kind would disappear without protection and support of those who brought it fear. A covenant was made that day: protection for a life. He'd find her love without delay so she could be his wife. An elder dragon's magic fades: the search results were naught. He could not find, among the shades, the spirit that he sought. They say that he still seeks the one, his wings heard in the gale. His eyes flash in the evening sun for this, he cannot fail. Perhaps someday he will succeed; her patient heart still yearns and in her hands the future seed when dragons will return.
