Reentry

An egocentric chap named Tom
squared off with egoistic Dick.
They both sought center light of lime
because self was their bailiwick.

And so since ego was extant,
they vied with all alacrity.
All forms of competition served
to focus light upon the me.

At first they had a shouting match
with all sharp insults free to fly.
But as the arbitrator deemed,
it turned into a hot air tie.

So then they went to have a race
to see who was in better shape.
Yet there was not a finish line
since someone had removed the tape.

Then posing was the act of choice
and thus like peacocks they did strut.
But strutting soon was put away
when they both heard an irate , “Cut!”

No victory was seen that day
as two self servers searched for worth.
They found out that it only works
when ego comes back down to Earth.
