When I am way down in the darkness of my head, ideas manage to take hold and I must write.

In the woods
Inside my head
I am not dead
I am well aware
Acutely in tune
I know each sound
Every unspoken word
And each ghastly icon
Of my troubled past
Inspiration is the price
Of utter damnation
I cannot help myself
Nor will I ever be able to
Fate’s cruel hand suggest
That I was born for this
Increasingly do I agree
In the distance
Deep beyond rationale
Weirdly
Rain dogs howl
Creatures unseen
An idea not yet lived
A possible end
To be reveled in
Someday soon
Closer they will come
Death and dismemberment
Disguised as canines
With overburdened appendages
The weight they carry is immeasurable
In relation to them I know
Upon my skin and bones
They will remain to consume
Feasting long after my time
Some will see them
And those with a clear view
Will understand their meaning
Reason will become like a God
They will pray to the idea
Of what I’ve been saying
They will not be judged
How could they ever be
The true deity of their universe
Will embrace them more than I
He will of course understand
Their instance of insanity
Just as he understands
My lifetime full of causality
Rain dogs howl
Closer they come
Over the horizon of my mind
From beyond the darkness enshrined
Soon they will circle around
Ravenous each is in kind
They will rip me to shreds
Consuming all that I said
Devouring all that I am…
