A man must wear a tag for a crime but is the sentence as easy as he first thought |
The Tag Kushdeep Singh sat on the train, from London to stoke. The train pulled up at a stop on the way and a woman got on, he moved over for her to sit down. “Thank you,” the woman said smiling. Kushdeep smiled back. “Nice weather we got today,” saidKushdeep. “Yes…very nice.” “I’m heading to stoke from London to stoke to see my family.” “I’ve got a business appointment in Birmingham.” Said the lady. “I’m a violent thug.” “What was that?” “I’m sorry,” said Kushdeep, “It ‘s my tag, but honestly it wasn’t my fault-I can explain." Wack! ? The lady slapped him hard and got up and sat somewhere else. Kushdeep wished the tag on his upper right arm would go away, but it was his sentence for something that he denied he had done. Another womansat next to him and said ‘I’m willing to listen to your story if you want.” Like I had told the policeman “It’s not my fault,” “I’m willing to listen if you want to talk.” Well I and another friend were on a night out-clubbing. A man with brown curly hair dressed in a clubbing top and walking like he was drunk said “It’s smelly! Hey you smelly Paki what you doing out?” I squared up to him and said calmly “I don’t smell and I’m Indian not apaki.” The drunk pulled a knife from his pocket, and swayed from side to side, “I’m going to chop you up!” The drunk lunged at me and I grabbed the knife twisting the man’s wrist back and up wards, hitting him in his upper stomach. The drunk collapsed to the floor, blood forming in small puddle around him. I ran away but the police who had seen the whole thing on CCTV were soon onto me. A police car pulledup some distance away and two police officers got out and were talking to some passers-by who hadseen theincident, one of the passers-by was pointing in my direction and one of the policemanshoutedat me and was running my direction. I was amazed and shocked at how fast the officer could run and I didn’t really have a chance to get any distance between themand me and I was caught in just a few moments. “You are under arrest!” Shouted the policeman pulling out a pair of handcuffs out and putting them on my wrist. He was taken to the police station and charged with GBH, and later sentenced to a new form of punishment which was been trialled, the punishment was that he had to wear a tag which would ostracise him form society for six months. Not a problem I had thought but this blasted tag tells whoever I meet that I am a violent thug and my punishment is ostracisation. “I am a violent thug and been punished by wearing a tag.” “Ok sir thankyou for telling me your story but this is my stop,” She got up,”Good luck and good bye.” “Yes, bye,” said Kushdeep. # Kushdeep was out shopping, and he saw a woman with a blind stick and a guide dog. Kushdeep hadn’t found anyone else to talk to for another two weeks. “Excuse me?” said the blind woman ,”Hello? Can anyone help me?” “Hi there.” “Hi who’s that.” “Hi I’m just been friendly, what are you looking for, “I’m after a four tins of beans.” “Hey I will help you.” “Aww. What a pleasant young man” “There you go let me but these in your basket for you.” “Oh thank youvery much.” A man who was standing nearby whispered something to the woman. “You dirty scoundrel! Get away from me!” Kushdeep walked away I’m so lonely and I got no one to talk to. # Kushdeep noticed he was running low on cigarettes on a late Sunday night. “I will just go to the local off license and get some cigs he thought. God it’s so dark, cold and quiet out here. Kushdeep headed to the nearest money in the wall cashpoint, as he took his money out, someone approached him, a scruffy 20 something young male wearing a blue hoodie. “Hey give me your money!” he said pulling out a knife. "No filipin way, get lost.” The scruffy youth lunged with the knife catchingKushdeep in his stomach, grabbed the notes out of his hand and ran away. Kushdeep pulled out his mobile phone and dialled the emergency service. “Hello, which service please, police, ambulance, fire?” “I am a violent hug and sentence d to be ostracized from society for six months.” “Sorry we can’t help, you are serving a sentence of ostrazed.” The phone went dead. Kushdeep lay by the cash machine on the floor blood pouring from his stomach wound. The End |
