A Country Music Lover's Entry
Granny’s Pumpkin Pie

The leaves have changed, their colors bright.
They dance and twirl in the sunlight
partnered with a northern breeze.
I marvel at their expertise.

Thanksgiving and the family’s here
though not as many as last year.
Some have gone to a higher plane
but more than memories remain.

(Refrain)
Turkey stuffed with Mom’s recipe
on plates my Uncle left to me
served with the wine my brother’d buy …
and Granny’s pumpkin pie.

Hands joined ‘round a love-filled table.
Though they’re gone, they still are able
to be a part of each holiday.
It’s like they never went away.

A prayer of thanks. Those gathered there
each bring a memory to share.
The family circle is complete
with blessings shared before we eat.

(Refrain)
Turkey stuffed with Mom’s recipe
on plates my Uncle left to me
served with the wine my brother’d buy …
and Granny’s pumpkin pie.

(Fade)
The family circle is complete
with mem’ries shared before we eat.

(Refrain)
Turkey stuffed with Mom’s recipe
on plates my Uncle left to me
served with the wine my brother’d buy …
and Granny’s pumpkin pie.
