Like Halloween?
Forgive me if I should find
Your skin is fragile like
The frosted leaves quivering on the ground
Forgive me if I should find
Something I like inside
And decide to reach in and pull it out

So now I find myself
Standing knee-deep in my lust for this
So now you find yourself
Sinking breathless into morbid sin

This cold, empty vessel
Still wreaks of her life’s essence
Eyes locked on the distance
Wishing they’d just slip shut
Like life’s final curtain
To mask the blood that’s been drawn
So I dawn upon her a Veil of Dirt
And I give her to the worms

Forgive me if I should find
Your blood runs cold like
A blackened rain down a rusted storm drain
Forgive me if I should find
The allure of your throat tonight
And leave you for the weeping shallow grave

So now I find myself
Standing knee-deep in my lust for this
So now you find yourself
Sinking breathless into morbid sin

This cold, empty vessel
Still wreaks of her life’s essence
Eyes locked on the distance
Wishing they’d just slip shut
Like life’s final curtain
To mask the blood that’s been drawn
So I dawn upon her a Veil of Dirt
And I give her to the worms

So I’ve come to find
Life is a fragile twine
So easily broken
So easily untied
Where some shelter it
As a way to cherish
I emancipate
As my way to embellish

Open life’s conduit
Extract the soul
Create dominion
As the energy passes through
And once the soul has been purged
The body finds rest in a crypt cast in dirt
And your tomb is a jealous one
It hides you from all those questioning your whereabouts
This is your home now

This cold, empty vessel
Still wreaks of her life’s essence
Eyes locked on the distance
Wishing they’d just slip shut
Like life’s final curtain
To mask the blood
Her mortal ties undone
Forever robbed of the sun
As I steal back into shadow
I cradle my new memento
I fear it may never be enough
I seek another subject of my art
So I may dawn another Veil of Dirt
And give another to the worms

Hide beneath the Veil of Dirt
And rest forever with the worms
