A poem that was part of a 2012 Scholastic Silver Key winning collection
"When the Rain Stops"

When the rain stops
The world is aglow
With little blurred lights
Twinkling below

Sleek black, grey dawn
Pushes off tangled clouds
Slowly waking, slowly rising
Shinning bright, she is proud

A ray sets the world ablaze
Like a match on a gasoline trail
Fast and furious it ignites
Over town's buildings fire does sail

And then glory fades
As her fires prance
Has vanished in a flash
The water's gone and so is her dance.
